Haunted Trail

They say if you listen close on a still October night, you can hear the gunshots echoing through these woods. Back in the 1920s, this holler was home to one of the biggest bootlegging operations east of the Mississippi.

Hidden deep in the woods, the Sandy River Distillery churned out more white lightning than any speakeasy could swallow. Men worked by firelight, smoking stills bubbling with forbidden spirits, guarded by shotguns and blood oaths. But word got out, and one cold night, the law came knocking.

Federal agents, local deputies, revenuers, they all swarmed in thinking they'd make a name for themselves. What they found was a fight. Guns blazing, men screaming, moonshine boiling over.

Nobody left that night untouched. Some died with a badge on their chest, others died protecting their shine. And now every October, those restless souls come wandering back. Some wearing uniforms, eyes black as tar, some still clutching mason jars and shotguns. They say the moonshine's cursed now, and those who hear the voices never come out the same.

So, if you're feeling brave, take a walk down that trail, but mind your step. The dead don't take kindly to strangers.
